Celtic Indie Folk Singer
'Selena's songs arise from the spirit of the land
and fill your soul with earth medicine'
SONG RELEASE OUT on 13th JUNE!
Is an empowering, feel-good song coming out on Friday ! It's energising, uplifting, joyful and perfect for summer... featuring mandolin, Galician bagpipes, bass, flutes and rich vocal harmonies.
It calls you to tap into your personal power and nourish that through connecting to nature and community.
It's inspired by my 20 years of living on the land, being part of a movement of eco-activists and creating empowered community by standing up for what we believed in.

This song is about the elusive Green Man, the symbol of the male spirit of all nature, written while visiting many old Green Man carvings in Herefordshire.
In cathedrals and churches all over the UK we see strange green faces, surrounded by foliage, often with leaves spilling forth from his mouth. It's an ancient Pagan figure reminding us of our roots.
I let this energy speak through the song...
Feasting For Lughnasadh
One of my 8 Songs Of The Wheel Of the Year.
Lughnasagh is the old Gaelic festival to celebrate the start of the harvest season, it is dedicated to Lugh, the Celtic God Of Light.
This song honours, evokes and encapsulates everything that the festival is about, and how it has been celebrated in the native folk traditions of Britain and Ireland.
Selena Mara creates a magical vibe with her original Celtic Indie Folk songs. From earthy and enchanting, to fun and funky, Selena’s music is entertaining and uplifting.
She spins evocative tales of the ancient ways and traditions of the land of Albion.
Her exquisite voice charms your ears, while she keeps your foot tapping with bouncy mandolin and accordion playing.
Selena’s songwriting is infused with, and grounded in, her experiences of 20 years of living on the land and the grassroots environmental direct action movement.
THE STORY SO FAR …
My music started with defending the land...
What got me into writing my own music was the road protest movement.
We camped out on the land to protect it from destruction by new motorways.
We sang and played music both to entertain ourselves and to deliver our message of hope and defiance on direct actions.
This sparked my singing, songwriting and mandolin playing.
I lived the outdoor travelling life for about 8 years and then settled in a low impact community in Devon. I’ve written dozens of songs that tell the tales of this magical life path that inspired me so much.

The song evokes the spine-tingling energy at a full moon gathering on Ham Hill in Somerset when the tribes were setting off on their journey into the West...
